Seems to be the season for engagement shoots – maybe it’s something to do with the spring sap rising? Heh.
One thing we are known for is getting great results shooting folk who are not used to being in front of a camera. Especially the guys, who often come along to a shoot because their finance or mom wants a nice picture of them. So here’s the secret to getting a great shoot. Just be yourself, relax, don’t worry about stuff and let the photographer do his thing. And be entertained.

Our engagement shoots are often a riot. We hang out with our couples, tell stories, find out more about each other and generally figure out plans for the big day itself in an informal havin’ fun way. We also use the opportunity to find out the most flattering angles, to look for good color combinations and to get great shots of the happy couple together that reflect their relationship and connection.

These two good lookers are TALL too! Debra is 6ft in bare feet and Pete must be around 6′ 5″ or more. That’s why they are sitting down! I am 6 feet tall, but need to be able to shoot down often to get a really flattering angle. They told us that the whole wedding party is really tall. We’ll be taking a step ladder to the wedding, really.

Pete was a little uncomfortable in front of the lens at first, although you wouldn’t know that from seeing these photos. And Debra, well she’s a natural.

I like to use my Leica M8 camera too for a more fine art black and white feel…
